On the July 30 anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid becoming law, remember that Ted Cruz has spent his career targeting vital programs Texans have paid into and earned, pushing to “increase the retirement age” and calling Social Security a ponzi scheme. (1,2)
And check out Cruz’s other anti-Medicare and Social Security efforts:
Cruz backed a plan to privatize Medicare and effectively make it a voucher system. (3)
When asked if Social Security is a Ponzi scheme, Cruz responded “There’s no doubt that’s what it is” – a claim PolitiFact rated FALSE two days later. (2,4)
Even before coming to the Senate, Cruz has supported the “fundamental reform” of “raising the retirement age.” (2,5)
Cruz campaigned on having sued the federal government to repeal a cost-cutting provision for seniors’ prescription drugs. (6)
Cruz voted against capping the cost of prescription drugs at $2,000 per year and capping the cost of insulin at $35 per month for people on Medicare. (7,8)
He sided with Big Pharma and opposed letting Medicare negotiate the price of prescription drugs and lower costs. (7)
Vote for Colin Allred in November for US Senate. (9)
